The Zimmer Natural Nail System is a next generation of intramedullary nails. They are characterized by their anatomic shape, which is intended to replicate the natural anatomic shape of the various long bones in the human skeleton. These nails have been designed for specific applications to help restore the shape of the fractured bone to its natural, pre-injured state. Key characteristics of the Zimmer Natural Nail System are:

  • Anterior bows in all of the femoral nails to match the natural anatomic shape
  • StabiliZe Technology in all of the long nails for solid interface between nail and bone, and stable fixation even in poor bone quality.
  • Different diameters and lengths available to match the anatomy of various patients
  • Spiral or Straight flutes to moderate stiffness and facilitate insertion
  • Intuitive instrumentation for ease of use

The Zimmer Natural Nail Cephalomedullary helps restore the shape of the damaged bone when treating intertrochanteric and subtrochanteric fractures. This intramedullary nail system is made up of short and long nails in a variety of diameters and lengths to accommodate varying patient anatomy. The configuration of each nail’s shape and dimensions allows it to be used in very specific applications to closely replicate the pre-injury state of the fractured bone.

  • Anterior bow matches natural anatomic shape
  • Left and right versions available
  • Small proximal section minimizes bone removal
  • Dynamic and static distal screw options designed to maintain length and alignment during healing
  • Femoral head lag screw provides proximal fixation while controlling bone segments
  • StabiliZe Technology (in long nails) provides solid nail-screw interface and stable fixation1.
The system is indicated for fractures in osteopenic and osteoporotic bone.
  • Spiral or straight flutes to moderate stiffness and help facilitate insertion
  • Monobloc guide for three CCD angles (125°, 130°, 135°)

Helps restore natural anatomic shape to fractured long bones

The Zimmer® Natural Nail® Antegrade helps restore the natural anatomic shape of the femur when treating femoral shaft fractures. This antegrade intramedullary nail system is available in a variety of diameters and lengths with varying anterior bows to accommodate varying patient anatomy. Specific nail options are offered for either greater trochanter entry or piriformis fossa entry. The configuration of each nail’s shape and dimensions allows it to be used in very specific applications to closely replicate the pre-injury state of the fractured bone.

  • Anterior bow matches natural anatomic shape
  • Left and right versions available
  • Greater trochanter nail has 3.1° lateralization
  • Four distal locking options in two different planes
  • Recon or interlocking options
  • Versatile hole options treat a variety of fractures, including very proximal and very distal fractures
  • Dynamic and static distal screw options maintain length and alignment during healing
  • StabiliZe Technology provides solid nail-bone interface and stabile fixation. The system is indicated for fractures in osteopenic and osteoporotic bone.
  • Spiral or straight flutes to moderate stiffness and help facilitate insertion

Helps restore natural anatomic shape to fractured bones

The Zimmer® Natural Nail® Retrograde helps restore the natural anatomic shape of the femur when treating femoral shaft fractures. This retrograde intramedullary nail system is made up of short and long nails in a variety of diameters and lengths to accommodate varying patient anatomy. It offers versatile hole options to treat a wide range of injuries, including distal femur fractures. The configuration of each nail’s shape and dimensions allows it to be used in specific applications to closely mimic the pre-injury state of the fractured bone.

  • Anterior bow matches natural anatomic shape
  • StabiliZe Technology (in long nails) provides solid nail-bone interface and stable fixation. The system is indicated for fractures in osteopenic and osteoporotic bone.
  • Distal bend of 5° to help facilitate nail insertion and distal fit
  • Standard transverse locking option or advanced oblique locking option to target bone in posterior condyles
  • Specific screw trajectories proximally for short and long nails
  • Two oblique screws capture posterior condyles
  • Static and dynamic screw options

Helps restore natural anatomic shape to fractured bones

The Zimmer® Natural Nail® Tibia helps restore the natural anatomy of the tibia when treating tibial shaft fractures. This intramedullary nail system offers nails in a variety of diameters and lengths to accommodate varying patient anatomy. The configuration of each nail’s shape and dimensions allows it to be used in specific applications to closely mimic the pre-injury state of the fractured bone.

  • Distal anterior bow of 2̊ matches natural anatomic shape
  • StabiliZe Technology (in long nails) provides solid nail-bone interface and stable fixation. The system is indicated for fractures in osteopenic and osteoporotic bone.
  • 10° Herzog curve and 60mm proximal body
  • Cross section with three flutes provides an excellent fit in the canal
  • Specific screw trajectories to help capture best quality bone
  • Four proximal screw options, including static and dynamic lateral-to-medial screws
  • Three distal screw options, including two lateral-to-medial and one anterior-to-posterior screws
  • Most distal screw hole is 5mm to 10mm from distal tip
  • Guides allow for nailing in both extension and flexion
  • 90-90 distal construct to provide rotational stability
